There are several ways for parents to stay informed about what is going on in the troop.
Parent Emails
To ensure that you receive all email communication from the Troop please ensure the troop has at least one valid email address. This is the method that the Scoutmaster, Patrol Advisors and Committee Members use to send emails to adults in the troop. Emails are often sent through Troop Track, though at times direct emails may be sent.
Scout handouts
Your scout will occasionally bring home permission slips and other handouts from Troop meetings for you to fill out and return to the next meeting. Your son is responsible for giving you the forms and handing them in to the Troop Scribe at the next meeting.
Website
Be sure to check out the Troop Website, www.bsatroop1988.org for the current Troop calendar, frequently used forms, gear lists, policies, and links to many useful scouting sites.
TroopTrack
Troop 1988 is making use of a tool called TroopTrack to keep track of scout advancement information as well as troop record keeping. In addition to allowing adult leadership to track many aspects of managing the troop, TroopTrack also allows scouts who have certain leadership roles (e.g. Troop Librarian, Troop Quartermaster, Troop Webmaster) to manage items they are responsible for. The tool also has a chat feature that will allow scouts to communicate with one another. As such, each scout is encouraged to sign up for a TroopTrack account. Please reach out to an adult leader with any questions. Our TroopTrack site is https://1988b.trooptrack.com/.
