Before a Scout is allowed to use knives, saws, or axes, they must take a Totin’ Chip training course where the proper use, care, and safety are taught.
Upon completing the course, Scouts will receive their Totin’ Chip card, and will receive a pocket knife. This knife becomes part of the Scout’s uniform whenever having it is appropriate (i.e. not at School).
