Camp Bowman Dates: July 23-30, 2016

Summer camp is a great and fun experience for all scouts. Many of the opportunities for advancement and merit badges found at summer camp are hard to replicate elsewhere. Troop 1988 has a hand-picked core of seasoned adults who attend camp with the boys, under the leadership of a summer camp scoutmaster. The troop usually attends camp for one week during the month of July. We select a camp that allows the boys to cook their own meals. This helps to provide the broadest possible experience in patrol teamwork, organization, and cooking skills.

About Camp Bowman and Goshen Scout Reservation

Camp Bowman is one of six camps located on the shores of a 450-acre lake in the Goshen Scout Reservation. Goshen is the local Boy Scout council’s (National Capital Area Council) long-term resident summer camp located on 4,000+ acres in the mountains of southwestern Virginia. The Boy Scouts use three of the camps for troop camping, the Webelos Scouts use two of the camps for their activities, and the High Adventure crews, hiking in the back country, depart from the sixth camp. A Boy Scout, depending on his age, size and interest, can participate in any of the following areas: aquatics, shooting sports, conservation, scoutcrafts, and handicrafts.
